Residential Building Permit - New Housing
Welcome to the Residential Building Permit Application Portal
Please note the following application conditions:
  • A MySaanich profile is required to access the online application process. If you do not have a profile, register for one here.
  • Prior to starting the application, please refer to the New Building Checklist for submission requirements. All requirements must be fulfilled for the application to be processed.
  • Access the Building Permit Document Guide for additional information on documentation requirements.
  • The application will timeout after 30 minutes of inactivity; draft applications will be saved for 15 days (and accessible through MySaanich "draft applications")
  • Application fee must be paid via credit card (2.4% convenience fee applies) upon application submission.
  • If you are an agent applying on the owner's behalf, you will be required to submit an Agent Authorization Form.
All documents must be in native PDF format, no scans permitted
  • Plan maximum file size: 200 MB
  • Other documents maximum file size: 10 MB
Plan Submission Requirements:
  • Technical data summary, and digital plans are to be submitted as ONE document
  • Plans to be drawn to an acceptable drafting scale. For example. 1:50 (metric units preferred) or ¼” = 1 ft.
  • Maximum size of drawings 600mm x 900mm (preferred), or 24" x 36"

As Saanich continues to improve and streamline the Building Permit process, Demolition and Plumbing work will now be included in the Building Permit application, eliminating the need for separate Demolition or Plumbing permits.

**Please note: a separate Building Permit application is required for each structure**
