Road Occupancy Permit
Welcome to the Road Occupancy Permit application process.
Please note the following application conditions:
  • You must have a MySaanich profile to make an application. If you do not have a profile, register for one before starting.
  • Ensure you have all documentation, per the list below, as the online application process will timeout if inactive for 15 minutes.
  • Partially completed applications will be saved for up to 15 days, and can be accessed through your MySaanich account page.
  • Five (5) working days are required to process this application.
  • Occupancy of Road Allowance can only commence upon receipt of an approved permit, and only within the time frame outlined therein.
Required documents and fees:
  • Commercial General Liability Insurance with a minimum limit of $5,000,000 per occurrence;
  • Detailed drawings indicating the exact locations of occupancy. These locations are to be dimensioned with area calculations noted.
  • A Traffic Management Plan will be required for occupancies that impact existing pedestrian, cycling or vehicular activities or are on collector or major municipal roads.
  • When applicable, advance notice construction signage must be indicated on the diagram as well a other traffic control devices, such as cones or barricades used to cordon off these areas of work.
  • A credit card is required to pay the $50 non-refundable application fee
Effective December 1, 2024 a 2.4% convenience fee will be charged on all credit card transactions related to Development Application or Permits
